Earlier this morning Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is working on a smaller and lighter version ofiPhone, generally termed as iPhone Nano. According to WSJ the people who saw the prototype of iPhone late last year says that the device is going to be half the size of current iPhone and would go on sale along with Apple’s existing line. Currently it is codenamed N97 and would be available to carriers for the half price of iPhone.
The source also mentions that the iPhone Nano will be available for customers for $199 on 2 year contract, which may include a “voice navigation” feature. If the drill is for real then it clearly indicates that Apple is preparing to compete with its rivals on the mid-range Smartphone market.
In addition Wall Street Journal also reported that Apple is thinking to make its MobileMe online storage servicefree, which will allow users to save their data in the cloud rather than on their device such as an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. However iPhone Nano could be released this summer, according to Wall Street Journal source. This may also be the time when Apple might release highly anticipated iPhone 5 and iPad 2.
So stay tuned as more information is about to come.
