First Hands-On With The Phosphor Reveal Crystal Watch

The Phosphor Reveal is one of the coolest timepieces I’ve seen in a long time. This is an extremely simple digital watch with a surprising trick: it shows the time by “flipping” little jewels from dark to light. The face is actually covered in little crystal nubs but some of the nubs can retract into the body of the watch and, in essence, disappear.

The watch contains a few hundred Swarovski crystals and uses a micro-magnetic mechanical movement to move them up and down. This model, made and sold by E-ink watchmakers Phosphor will be available on March 7 for an unannounced price.

Samsung Thinks Its Galaxy Tab Is 'Inadequate' Next to ipad2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since your writer is an Apple fangirl, there is nothing she enjoys more than a bit of corporate schadenfreude whenever tech manufacturers grit their collective teeth at Apple's latest releaseof yet another much-hyped device. Poor Samsung, the maker of the Android-based Galaxy Tab, has decided to reconsider its tablet's pricing, and, according to Executive VP Lee Don-Joo, "improve the parts that are inadequate." He didn't say what that meant, but, if Samsung wants to compete in the tablet game, itbetter start rhyming with winning.

Not only has it been less than a year since the last MacBook Pro spec bump, but our 15-inch review unit is actually the first Sandy Bridge system we've received from any manufacturer. And it's not just the CPU that's new: Apple's also launching the new Thunderbolt high-speed interconnect, and there's been a big switch to an AMD Radeon HD 6750M GPU paired with Intel's integrated HD Graphics 3000, an arrangement that should offer both solid graphics performance and great battery life.
