Google Chrome 10 review !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recently I set up my friends computer who pretty much uses his home computer for a bit of gaming but mainly Facebook, I thought I would install a couple of Chrome extensions for him and I must say that he was very impressed with two of them, therefore I thought I would share these with you.
Firstly to use these extensions you must have Google Chrome installed, some people are unsure whether or not to install an alternative to Internet Explorer or Safari, however it in my opinion is faster, more secure and more intuitive than Microsoft’s and Apple’s attempts. You can download and install Google Chromehere, it won’t bite! (If you do not like Chrome you can easily uninstall it).
If you are unfamiliar with what extensions do they are basically small apps which integrate with your web browser, today we will introduce you to two Google Chrome extensions which are great if you use Facebook on a regular basis, these are: Facebook Photo Zoom and Facebook for Google Chrome.

Gaming tops tablet activity, says Google study!!!!!!!!!

Apple-iPad-2-gaming
A Google AdMob study of tablet usage has found that playing games is more popular than any other activity.
A new survey by Google AdMob has found that tablet owners primarily use their touchscreen devices for playing games, the Guardian reports. Other popular uses include emailing, social networking and consuming media like videos, music and e-books.
Out of the 1,430 tablet owners interviewed, 84 percent used the device for playing games. “Searching for information” came in as the second most-popular activity at 78 percent, followed by emailing (74 percent), reading the news (61 percent) and using social networks (56 percent). Only 51 percent use their tablets for watching videos or reading music, the study found. And Reading e-books was only popular among 46 percent of those interviewed

Google has a mole at Twitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Google spy
It's a little outlandish to think Google has a spy infiltrating Twitter, but here's our take on the Google-Twitter fiasco.
This is one we tried to ignore for as long as possible, but it just won’t quite go away. Yesterday, TechCrunch editor Michael Arrington lodged a major claim that Google had a mole working at Twitter. According to Arrington, “Multiple sources close to Twitter have said that someone with access to Twitter’s most confidential information, such as who they are interviewing for key executive spots, may be leaking that information directly to Google.”

Google VP Andy Rubin defends Android’s openness!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite reports to the contrary, Android head Andy Rubin has come out in a new blog post stating that Android, the #1 mobile operating system in the US, will remain as open as it has always been.
android
In an attempt to tamp-down fears that Google was closing the open doors of Android to the development community, Google’s vice president of engineering Andy Rubin took to theAndroid Developers blog with a single message: Android will remain an open platform.
Rubin’s assurances that Android will remain the open-source mobile platform it’s been since the beginning follow aBloomberg Businessweek report from last week that claimed Google has begun reigning in the “will-nilly tweaks to the software” made by the wide variety of handset makers and app developers that produce content for the mobile operating system.
Evidence of this came in the form of additional reports that showed Google has delayed releasing the source code of the Honeycomb version of Android, despite the fact that the OS has been available on the Motorola Xoom tablet since the end of February.
“Recently, there’s been a lot of misinformation in the press about Android and Google’s role in supporting the ecosystem. I’m writing in the spirit of transparency and in an attempt to set the record straight,” writes Rubin.

Google takes streaming music app Grooveshark from Android Market!!!!!!!!!!

Grooveshark still hasn't worked it out with the record labels and that may have cost it a spot in Google's Android Marketplace.
Google on Tuesday removed the popular music streaming app Grooveshark from its Android Marketplace. Grooveshark has drawn the ire of the music industry for allegedly violating copyright laws.
The Gainesville, Florida-based Grooveshark, which also exists as website, calls itself “the world’s music library.” The service relies on users to upload music to the site where it’s stored and made available for other users to stream.  The Web-based service is free, but Grooveshark charges monthly subscriptions for access to its mobile apps.
Google’s decision to remove the app comes as the company is facing increased scrutiny from lawmakers over sites that offer services or goods that are alleged to violate copyright laws. Google’s chief counsel Kent Walker is scheduled to appear today in front of the House Judiciary Committee during a hearing that will address online piracy. Google has been accused of profiting from copyright infringement by permitting piracy sites to use Google’s ad service. Google has denied those claims.

Google Nexus S smartphone review!!!!!!!!!!!!

Samsung Nexus S mobile phone
It’s not you, it’s me. No, really, it is.
You see, I do love you really. I love your big face. I love your curves. No, you’re not fat, you’re just… nice to hold. I like holding you close to me.
And you’re very responsive to my lightest touch. And Smart too,
But you see, rightly or wrongly, I’m a creature of habit. I don’t have a lot of time to myself these days and I can’t put up with your demands for my attention.
And, if I’m honest, there’s someone else. And I can’t stop thinking about her. She’s a  bit square. And a little overweight, but she’s very pretty. And I’ve loved her for a long time.
The Samsung Nexus S mobile phone has a slightly curved scree for added comfort when making calls
Okay, okay… don’t get angry. Some people don’t like her – they say she hasn’t got much going for her, that she holds me back.  Her name’s Apple. Apple iPhone 4.
So, therein lies my problem.
I’ve had the Samsung’s Google Nexus S for a couple of weeks now and it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions.
First time I switched it on I adored it. I wanted it in my hand all the time. Time was gobbled up browsing through the Android Market – the phone’s equivalent of Apple’s App Store.
Within hours I had changed the keyboard several times, I had it loaded with games, I had a screensaver of soothing Koi carp and I was Googling everything I could think of.

Google brings Universal Search back

As we know Google has updated quite a few things this week, including a newer interface and a slimmer logo but the most interesting and controversial change for SEOs is the ‘Universal Search’ feature.
This feature allows users to find search results from different verticals such as news, blogs, images, videos and more. Now this new change is resulting in a lot of protests and heated debates amongst the community of Search Marketers, Bloggers and Technology Experts.

Google brings free Voice calls, lets you call on phones from Gmail

Google’s new VoIP voice and video chat now uses the mobile phones. Until now, it required both people to be at their PCs, but this new option makes you mobile and lets you free of spending all day in front of your computers. Any Gmail user will be able to call anyone right from the Gmail account. As Google announced, calls to the U.S. and Canada will be free for at least rest of the year, whereas, calls to other countries will charge very low rates as little as $0.02 per minute.
How to make calls?
All you need to do is just click “call phone” at the top of your chat list, dial a number or enter a contact’s name. If you have a Google Voice phone number, calls made from Gmail will display this number as the outbound caller ID. Install the voice and video plug-in and enjoy chat! For more information click here.
Here is the proof!

Windows Phone 7 ‘Copy and Paste’ feature coming in early 2011

Previously at the launch event of Windows Phone 7 , Microsoft said that WP7 devices will get Copy and Pastefunctionality. Today Microsoft has announced that it’s just a matter of weeks when software update for copy and paste on its Windows Phone 7 devices will be made available. This statement clearly tells that software update won’t be going further then early 2011.
Here is what Arpan Shah, Director of Microsoft Project said in reply to critics of Windows Phone 7:
Critics have commented on the lack of specific features like copy & paste and lack of 100s of thousands of applications. And while both are true, copy & paste will be available as an update in a matter of weeks (early 2011) and as for applications, it’s just a matter of time.
Microsoft has planned to deliver small updates through over-the-air and the big ones through the Zune sync client. So take a deep breath and hold on until early 2011, meanwhile keep a check over here for if any news comes up we’ll post it right here.

Google brings “Google Instant” predictive search

Yesterday at Google Search EventGoogle has announced new search service named as Google Instant. This is a predictive search which predicts and provide you with a suggestion instantly. As normally it takes at least nine seconds to come up with the suggestion and another fifteen seconds approximately to select the appropriate result, but now with the Google instant, it will provide with the nearest possible result. This will defiantly save time as bringing up the most wanted information first.
Currently Google Instant is available in US for all users of ChromeFireFoxInternet Explorer 8, and Safari. And as for the rest of the world it will be available by next week in U.K., France, Italy, Germany, and Spain.
Here is a video to understand Google Instant in depth!

White Google Nexus S Spotted

A tug of war is going between Apple and Google recently on their respective mobile platforms the Android andiOS. The newly born Google Nexus S was spotted in a white skin just like Apple’s iPhone 4. So is it a strategy by Google to counter Apple’s iPhone? The phone hasn’t hits the stores yet; it would be probably out in the market by spring this year.
It’s been reported that Samsung is preparing to launch a white Google Nexus S in Germany. The Nexus S would be having a similar body to what Samsung Galaxy Tab has to offer, with a glossy black front and a White back. The white version of the Nexus S was first spotted by TheNextWeb guys.
Google and Samsung had it planned earlier to launch the phone in different skins. Now the picture is been shown by many of the blogs that Google is copying their rival who are to launch the iPhone 4 in a month or two. Now the question that arises is that weather the white version of Nexus would be available in Germany and Europe or will it be available globally.

Google following Bing?

Couple of weeks ago, we saw Google featuring pacman game, and this time Google deviating from its simplistic usability approach by showing fancy backgrounds on google.com in some regions. The very same concept was first introduced by Microsoft’s Bing, and now it looks like Google liked it very much.
Can we say Google is out of ideas? is Google following Microsoft? is that really happening? The number one search engine copying its competitor’s ideas?
Well may be, as Apple has given Bing a major boost after adopting it for iPhone 4’s default search, and now Google is feeling the pressure. Now, by changing background images and making Google.com a pacman game will change things for Google? Or can we say, Google considers Bing a real threat?
In fact, Google is still miles ahead of Bing and we are assuming far too many things for now, but who knows, with Apple’s support and the rapid growth in the number searches made using iPhones, we might have to“Bing it” in the future.
We’d love you hear your comments. You can post your opinion in the comment box below.

Google shows off Android 3.0 Honeycomb at CES 2011 [video] posted by varmas

Now see what we have it here. This is about the tablet-friendly 3.0 Honeycomb. The Android 3.0, codenamedHoneycomb, is going to be exclusively for tablets and that means it is not only supposed for the phones. This solves the query why we saw the title “Entirely for Tablet” in the video earlier. The video was appeared on theAndroidDevelopers YouTube account. It is just like how iOS for iPhone is different from the iOS for iPad.
A version of Google Chrome in a sleek black UI came into view on the tablet with the video that stated “Experience the full web with best in class web-browsing”. The video has got widgets for email, calendar, and browser favorites with the app launcher that can be seen at the bottom. Also there’s Gmail for the tablet andYouTube has also been redesigned. The tablet comes with the feature to talk face-to-face with many Google Talk users. What’s more? The 3D Google Maps is also there which adds a yet another exciting feature.
