Suzuki GSX R1000 Review !!!!!!!!!

Suzuki GSX R1000 is a sportbike that comes from GSX R series of Suzuki motorcycles. In 2001 the GSX R1000 was introduced to replace the most powerful and largest GSX-R1100. As the model name revels this new sportbike received 1000cc engine and was around hundred cc smaller than its predecessor GSX-R1100. To some extent this new model was a bigger version of the Suzuki GSX-R75.
Indian motorcycle industry is world’s second largest bike market, Suzuki Motorcycles is considering many models for India and among them was the Suzuki GSX R1000 which was launched in 2010.
The Suzuki GSX R1000 is the most refreshed model in Suzuki’s history, yet the model looks similar to the K7 and K8 model the one it replaces. The updated model receives short stroke engine and new chassis still this new ride lacks the ability to take its rivals on the track. On track the GSX R1000 may not be as fast as the Yamaha R1, Honda Fireblade and the Kawasaki ZX-10R but on the road the Suzuki is better with handling comfort, is predictable and still feels fast.

Engine

For the first time in 2009 Suzuki GSX R1000 received a short stroke engine which the manufacturer claims it makes the bhp and torque similar to the old model. Whereas the lie detector dyno test tells a different story. The current model of the Suzuki GSX R1000 makes 7 bhp lesser than the old model to settle at 161bhp.
A short stroke engine allows a bike to be tuned to run on high revs for racing, keeping safe. New engine of the ride is tuned to be smooth in the midrange this makes the rider to freely and aggressively open the throttle. In spite of short strokes one has many things to play with. Physically the engine is 59mm shorter than the old; this allows longer swingarm and more rubber on the road. The kind of trick is also used on the current generation of Honda Fireblade.

Ride and Handling

Suzuki GSX R1000 may not be fast as its rivals but is comfortable and very stable even while accelerating hard on wavy roads. This means the GSX R1000 performs well in India. The ride has three stage adjustable footpegs making the ride comfortable for riders with different profile. Handling is decent and predictable. GSX R1000 is road friendly but on the track it’s like a wild horse that is difficult to control. It becomes very difficult to flick the ride on those hard corners on track; it restricts changing direction and feels too heavy.
GSX R1000 has received all new monobloc calipers the kind of brakes are latest but still the stopping power is less than its competition. Many reviews feel the GSX R1000 is under performed than the Yamaha R1.

Equipment

The Suzuki GSX R1000 is now fitted with Showa big piston forks the kind of configuration was only seen on the Kawasaki ZR 6R and Suzuki Suzuka. Forks are lighter as they have only one piston in each pipe to control the compression and rebound damping. This light fork configuration contributes to overall lower down the bike weight. They work better than conventional fork configuration and gives better front tyre feel when you push it hard. Chassis receives updates and other update include banana type swingarm, Showa rear shocks, monoblock calipers and the hydraulic operated clutch is replaced with cable driven clutch.

Quality and Reliability

Internally the ride owns a positive position for its reliability and the Suzuki GSX R1000 in India is no exception. Some of the reviewers call the engine of the GSX R1000 bullet proof, which is meant to run forever. The built quality and finish isn’t to the grade of the Yamaha and Honda but it’s fairly acceptable.

Value

Once the Suzuki GSX R series of motorcycles were cheaper than any other sportbike in the market, but the price is not that loose any more. The ride is more expensive than the Honda Fireblade. Still the Suzuki GSX R1000 price in India settles at Rs 12.5 lakh* approx. For that price tag Suzuki offers lots of biking.
