Spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba, one of the country's most famous gurus, died in hospital on Sunday, April 24, 2011. He passed away at the age of 85 due to cardio-respiratory failure after spending more than three weeks in critical condition. Sathya Sai Baba is being given a full State funeral in honour of his services to humanity.

- Devotees gathered outside Sai Kulwant Hall offered water and bananas by ashram volounteers as they wait for darshan, which begins at 11.45 am.

- Burial ceremony over. Baba's body lowered into samadhi.

- Priests at Sai Kulwant Hall lower Sai Baba into his grave.
- Red curtain now covers the grave site as Sai Baba's body is lowered.
- Giant screens installed outside Sai Kulwant Hall for the thousands of devotees who are sitting in the sun to be a part of the funeral proceedings.
- Darshan will be opened to the public at 11.45 am.
