AT&T launches LG Thrive pre-paid Android smartphone !!!!!!!!!!!

Want a smartphone but hate contracts? AT&T is looking to crach the pre-paid market with the Android-powered LG Thrive.

AT&T has announced it is launched its first pre-paid smartphone in the form of the LG Thrive, adding the device to the company’s GoPhone program so customers can pay as they go—including mobile data—without committing to a long-term contact. Of course, AT&T will also be offering an on-contract version of the same device, dubbed the LG Phoenix. Both go on sale April 17.

“We are excited to add LG Thrive, the first smartphone for GoPhone, to AT&T’s growing Android portfolio,” said AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets VP Judy Cavalieri, in a statement. “Thrive brings more choice and more value to our GoPhone customers by delivering the benefits of a smartphone, balanced with functionality and affordability.”

LG launches water purifier for Rs 40K !!!!!!!!!!!

Korean consumer durables LG on Monday entered into the Indian water purifier market and aims to be the major player in the categoryWhile the company's first water purifier product will be priced around Rs 40,000, the company is already working to introduce a product in the mass segment by the end of this year to compete with the likes of Tata's Swach and HUL's Puriet, which are priced around Rs 1,000 to Rs 7000 range.

    
"Our way of doing business is that whenever we enter a new business we try to tap the high end segment and then we expand from high end to more affordable range," LG Electronics President (South West Asia) and Managing Director of LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd Soon Kwon said.

The company is planning to offer a range of products across all segments of consumers.

LG 3D Tablet Release !!!!!!!!!!

Here is some great news surrounding LG’s new Optimus Pad (which has not been launched globally yet), according to an LG Senior Executive, India could be receiving the 3D tablet in June.

The Optimus Pad is believed to be priced around the Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 mark. However, LG Electronics business head for mobile communications, Vishal Chopra, has indicated that dependant on import duties and currency valuations the price could be less than Rs 30,000 at time of launch and that around the end of May, he will be in a better position to clarify the price.

Please note that because of price sensitivity in India the iPad has dropped in price from around Rs 28,000 in January to Rs 27,390 in April and Samsung had to bring the price of their Galaxy Tab down to Rs 29,299 from Rs 38,000. Therefore, this could have a bearing on Optimus Pad’s price when it is released in India.

T-Mobile and LG's new G-Slate tablet has some solid features, but its defining one, 3D, is poorly executed and uses 3D technology out of the 1950s.

LG’s G-Slate has a lot going for it, but 3D ain’t one of them. Though it’s tech specs are decent and its 8.9-inch size is interesting, but after spending some time with the new tablet, I don’t see the value in its most talked about feature: the 3D. Unlike its LG Revolution (LG Thrill 3D on AT&T) handset, which has a glasses-free 3D screen and 3D camera, the G-Slate’s implementation of 3D is bewildering. If a 3D tablet came out in the 1950s, this would be it.

Though the G-Slate has two side-by-side cameras capable of recording stereoscopic images, it lacks a screen capable of displaying them back, likely due to the cost of such a display. While I can understand why LG wouldn’t include a glasses-free or passive 3D screen (passive glasses are the kind you use in movie theaters), their insistence on including 3D playback has brought an old friend back: anaglyph 3D. Remember those terrible red and blue glasses? Yeah, this tablet comes with a pair of those. It’s the only way to view 3D content on the device. You can also record using a single camera or both cameras side-by-side, which shows two separate images/recordings to the left and right of one another. Representatives told me that recording in side-by-side is probably the best method if you hope to output to an external device like a TV. I’m told they can turn the image into 3D, but I cannot verify it. Unless you plan on recording your home movies using technology best found inside a cereal box, I don’t recommend the G-Slate for 3D.

LG Launches GM Series 3 Music Mobiles in India

Music mobile phones seem to becoming hot. After Nokia's XpressMusic phone series, SamsungBeat and Sony Ericsson Walkman mobile phones, LG too has launched an array of music mobile phones.

The consumer electronics giant LG Electronics has launched a series of music phones in India. The three new LG music mobile phones: LG GM 310M, LG GM210 and the LG GM205, are aimed at the mid-segment.

As for specs, LG GM310 is a slider mobile fitted with 2.2-inch TFT LCD display with a 240x320 pixel resolution. The phone's connectivity options include EDGE/GPRS and HSDPA support. Other features in this latest LG mobile include 512MB or 1GB of internal memory and a MicroSD card (up to 32GB), a 3.5mm earphone socket, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and a 3 megapixel auto focus camera.
