Volkswagen unveiled its XL1 hybrid concept car at the Qatar Motor Show, giving us a glimpse at the future of extreme economy vehicles. The new two-seat XL1 brings us even closer to the production of a 1-liter car. Using a two cylinder TDI engine, electric motor, lithium-ion battery pack and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission the XL1 can achieve over 260 mpg making it the world’s most efficient hybrid car. The Volkswagen prototype can also go from 0-62 mph in 11.9 seconds and reach a top speed of just under 100 mph.
