Gaming tops tablet activity, says Google study!!!!!!!!!

A Google AdMob study of tablet usage has found that playing games is more popular than any other activity.

A new survey by Google AdMob has found that tablet owners primarily use their touchscreen devices for playing games, the Guardian reports. Other popular uses include emailing, social networking and consuming media like videos, music and e-books.

Out of the 1,430 tablet owners interviewed, 84 percent used the device for playing games. “Searching for information” came in as the second most-popular activity at 78 percent, followed by emailing (74 percent), reading the news (61 percent) and using social networks (56 percent). Only 51 percent use their tablets for watching videos or reading music, the study found. And Reading e-books was only popular among 46 percent of those interviewed

Steve Jobs ordered to answer questions in iTunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A federal judge has ordered Apple CEO Steve Jobs to submit to questioning relating to a 2004 iPod software update which rendered content purchased from competing digital music store Harmony inoperable on the device.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been ordered by a federal judge to submit to questioning in an antitrust case which alleges that the tech company iTunes service constitutes a music downloading monopoly. The order comes from U.S. Magistrate Judge Howard R. Lloyd, who is overseeing the proceedings on a complaint that was taken to the courts back in 2005, Bloomberg reports.

The plaintiff’s legal team must abide by a number of court-imposed restrictions; Jobs’ deposition may not exceed two hours and questions must be limited to issues surrounding software changes Apple made in October 2004 that prevented music purchased from RealNetworks, Inc. from working with the iPod MP3 player. The Seattle-based iTunes competitor announced in July 2004 that music purchased from its Harmony online store would work with the popular Apple media players. Five days later, a new iPod software update was revealed with tweaks Apple’s FairPlay — the proprietary software used to encode iTunes content — that would prevent RealNetworks content from working.

In January 2010, shortly after its unveiling, I first got my hands on an iPad. My initial reaction? “The iPad is like holding the future.” And that’s funny because here we are, just a little over a year into that future, and something new has come along that makes holding the iPad 1 feel like holding the past: the iPad 2.

A week ago, after its unveiling, I got some hands on time with the new hardware and my initial assessment was that it pushed a device that already had no true competition, even farther ahead. But now I’ve had the chance to actually use the thing non-stop for a week. Is my feeling the same?

Actually, it’s even stronger.

The original iPad was considered a huge hit — but that was with no real competition. The iPad 2 has some competition — right now, the Xoom, and many more are coming. But I have no doubt that the iPad 2 will be an even bigger hit than the original.
