Gaming tops tablet activity, says Google study!!!!!!!!!

A Google AdMob study of tablet usage has found that playing games is more popular than any other activity.
A new survey by Google AdMob has found that tablet owners primarily use their touchscreen devices for playing games, the Guardian reports. Other popular uses include emailing, social networking and consuming media like videos, music and e-books.
Out of the 1,430 tablet owners interviewed, 84 percent used the device for playing games. “Searching for information” came in as the second most-popular activity at 78 percent, followed by emailing (74 percent), reading the news (61 percent) and using social networks (56 percent). Only 51 percent use their tablets for watching videos or reading music, the study found. And Reading e-books was only popular among 46 percent of those interviewed

Intel taking over Kno tablet hardware design!!!!!!!!!


Reports have Intel and Conde Nast's owner sinking $30 million into Kno...and Intel taking over the dual-screen student tablet's hardware design.
Last month, rumors were swirling that tablet start up Kno was considering selling off its hardware business—which hasn’t even launched yet, despite repeated delays. Now, new reports have chipmaking giant Intel and Conde Nast owner Advance Publications sinking some $30 million into Kno…and that Intel will be taking over the hardware design of the dual-screen tablets with an eye towards licensing manufacturing to OEMs.

According toBusinessweek, Intel’s venture capital arm is interested in the technology as a way to expand its presense in the education market. According toAll Things Digital, Intel will take over the hardware design of the tablets then, rather than manufacture the devices itself, license the designs to OEM manufacturers. Conde Nast owner Advance Capital is also apparently also be a significant participant in the investment.

Powered by a 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 250 processor, the Iconia A500 features a 10.1-inch touch display with a 1,280 by 800-pixel resolution so users can enjoy high-definition gaming and video entertainment—and an integrated HDMI output enables users to push high-def content to a nearby big screen. And it won’t weigh people down: the A500 comes in at just under 1.7 pounds, and measures just over a half inch thick.

The release of Research In Motion's BlackBerry PlayBook tablet may have been pushed back one month due to the lack of touch screens brought on by an Apple's hunger for iPad 2 components.
Anyone thinking about taking on Apple in the tablet wars, take heed: The release of Research in Motion’sBlackBerry PlayBook tablet was delayed for one month, likely because of high demand for the iPad 2.
According to DigiTimes, “PlayBook shipments were postponed for about a month from the original schedule due to a delay in software testing as well as shortage of touch panels because Apple already booked up most of the available capacity.”
