Legendary Italian luxury car marque Maserati has made its entry into the Indian market with its complete range of cars. A part of the Fiat Group, Maserati will bring its cars into India via the Complete-Built-Unit (CBU) route, much like other European luxury car makers. On the shelf will be variants of its three existing models – the four-door Quattroporte sedan, its two-door GT Coupe GranTurismo cousin, and the GranTurismo’s topless version – the GranCabrio. Maserati has partnered with the Shreyans Group for the retail, and the first Indian showroom will open in Mumbai this year. Plans are well advanced to open a second dealership in New Delhi in early 2012, with plans to cater to seven major Indian cities by 2015.

Ashok Leyland and Nissan unveil their first LCV for India!!!!!!!

The Commercial Vehicles manufacturing arm of the Hinduja Group, Ashok Leyland and Japanese car maker Nissan have been working in close collaboration since 2007, primarily for the production of Light Commercial Vehicles in India. While announcements of a Joint Venture (JV) between the two were made a while ago, Ashok Leyland was struggling with acquiring land for setting up a Greenfield facility in Chennai to pursue its proposed LCV project with Nissan. However, keeping the economic downturn in mind, the two companies decided to put the project on hold and carry forward their operations at Ashok’s Leyland’s Hosur manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu.

Recognizing the perceptible upward shift in terms of features, performance and payload of the Small Commercial Vehicle Segment in India, Ashok Leyland and Nissan recently unveiled their first Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) for India – the Ashok Leyland DOST.

Tata Indica eV2 launched at a starting price of Rs 2.95 lakh!!!!!!!!

NEW DELHI: Tata Motors on Thursday said it has launched new diesel and petrol variants of its hatchback Indica, priced between Rs 2.95 lakh and Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The company claimed that the diesel vehicle gives a mileage of 25 km per litre as per Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and is the most fuel efficient car in India.The new car -- eV2 -- comes with a CR4 common rail diesel engine. It has a displacement of 1396 cc delivering 70 PS @ 4000 RPM. It has a torque of 140 NM at a lower 1800-3000 RPM. The company claims that the new CR4 engine has resulted in 32% increase in power, 65% increase in torque as well as a 46% improvement on fuel efficiency. The petrol option will run on a multi-point fuel injection engine. Both these engines are compliant with BS4 emission norms.

Hyundai today unveils three new models to a European audience at the 2011 Salon International de L’Automobile in Geneva.  All three cars encapsulate the spirit of Hyundai’s new brand slogan, ‘New Thinking. New Possibilities.’ ? which itself is launched in Europe today.

Making its world premiere at the show, Hyundai’s all-new, Europe-specific 
D-segment model, the i40, takes centre stage.  The i40 was designed and engineered at Hyundai’s R&D headquarters in Russelsheim,Germany, to meet the exacting demands of European retail and fleet buyers.  It is being unveiled in wagon form at the Show.

With the i40, Hyundai sets out to make premium quality accessible to everyone, in line with its ‘modern premium’ philosophy.  A number of features on i40 are not yet available on competitor cars, including heated, folding rear seats; an auto-defog system that automatically detects and clears mist on the windscreen; and a heated steering wheel.

 

Furthermore, the i40 demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to global leadership in eco-friendly technology, with its 1,7-liter ‘U-II’ diesel engine emitting as little as 113 g/km of CO₂ ? a best-in-class figure.  In addition, the ‘Nu’ 2,0-liter petrol engine makes its debut, delivering higher torque for enhanced driveability, improving fuel economy, reducing emissions, and providing greater refinement and durability compared to the outgoing 2,0-liter unit.

Nissan’s all-new 2011 Nissan Juke crossover vehicle is expected to hit show floors in October. The dramatically styled Juke features a 1.6-liter direct injection gasoline (DIG) turbo, 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine that puts out more than 180 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The Juke’s all-wheel drive offers torque vectoring, which can split torque up to 50:50 between the front and rear wheels, or side-by-side across the rear axle. When corning, the torque vectoring AWD system helps reduce understeer and enhances the Juke’s corning experience. The Juke’s unique styling was derived from the Nissan Qazana concept, and  number of other influences including motorcycles and rally cars. The Juke will start at a base price of $18,960, and will be available starting next month (October 2010).

Nissan plans to unveil its Esflow concept vehicle next month at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The Esflow is an electric sports car that will employ the same technology used to power the Nissan Leaf. The rear-wheel drive Esflow will feature a separate motor driving each rear wheel and will be able to do 0 to 60 MPH in under 5 seconds. Designers strategically placed the battery packs and power train to give the Esflow optimal weight distribution and handling. The car can travel up to 150 miles on one charge of its laminated lithium-ion batteries. Stay tuned for more info during the Geneva Motor Show, which runs March 3 through 13.

Honda revealed its new 2012 Civic Si coupe and sedan concepts at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show. The re-design of what will be the ninth generation of the Civic will make the car smaller, lighter and more efficient. The new design offers a bolder, sleeker appearance than past Civics, yet still retains the style of earlier models. Buyers will have plenty of options when the new line of Civic becomes available in the spring. Along with the conventional sedan and coupe models, Honda will also offer “Si” performance versions along with hybrid and natural-gas variants. Hybrids will feature a new lithium-ion battery cell, and gasoline models will use Eco-Assist to help less-efficient drivers get better fuel economy.
