Even as large numbers of devotees from India and abroad prayed for his speedy recovery and well-being, the health condition of spiritual leader Satya Sri Sai Baba remained critical today.

Sai Baba, who is on ventilator and dialysis to assist hiskidney function, was critical as some of his organs were not functioning satisfactorily, Sri Satya Sai Baba Institutue of Higher Medical Sciences Director A N Safays said in the latest bulletin released here today evening.

The doctors' team was still attending on Sai Baba to save his life, he said.

The 85-year-old Sai Baba was admitted to Satya Sai Super Speciality Hospital here on March 28, following pneumonia and respiratory problems.

After hearing the news of the critical condition of the spiritual leader, a large number of devotees and leaders from various political parties were rushing to the hospital

PUTTAPARTHI (Andhra Pradesh): Spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba's condition is stable, though he continues to be on a ventilator, doctors attending on him said Wednesday. 

The doctors said at a news conference here Wednesday evening that the 85-year-old godman was suffering from multi-organ dysfunction but was responding to treatment. He was still on CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) to help his respiratory and kidney functions. 

As his treatment at the Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital in this tiny pilgrim town of Anantapur district entered its 10th day, the doctors, for the first time, came before the media with all the details of his condition. 

While claiming that Sai Baba was stable, hospital director A.N. Safaya said it was not possible to say how long he will have to stay in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Sathya Sai’s condition improving!!!!!!!

It was the sudden ill health and news of hospitalisation of Sri Sathya Sai Baba that has caused anxiety amongst his devotees across the world. However, doctors treating him assured that he is recuperating well and is responding to the treatment.

Satya Sai Baba, was admitted in the Sri Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital in Puttaparthi, following a cardiac ailment on Monday. He is said to be recovering under the constant care of a panel of medical experts there.

According to a medical bulletin released by hospital director Dr A.N. Safaya, Baba had a restful night and his condition was progressing. Earlier, a team of doctors reached Puttaparthi from Bengaluru by helicopter to monitor Baba's health. Doctors said his heart was responding well to a pacemaker and there was no need for worry. They said that Baba would be discharged in a couple of days.

According to sources at Sri Sathya Sai Super-Speciality Hospital in Whitefield, the condition of Sai Baba is now stable. He was rushed to the Sri Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital in Puttaparthi after he complained of severe breathing problem and congestion, on Monday evening.
