Great! Facebook has just launched a modern messaging system. Facebook’s CEO “Mark Zuckerberg” surveyed high school students and found that they don’t like email as “it’s too formal”.
“This is not an email killer. This is a messaging experience that includes email as one part of it… This is the way that the future should work”, Zuckerberg said.
This new service is perfectly designed to be seamless. This simple system can handle email and more importantly you can have a facebook.com email account. Not only this, it also integrates SMS, IM andFacebook messages. The modern messaging system is seamless, informal, immediate, simple, minimal and short. They’ve devised a way to communicate no matter what format you prefer: email, chat or SMS, and they are hopeful to consider other tech like VoIP in the future. iPhone app update is also coming shortly that incorporates Facebook messages.
Facebook also brings what it says a “social inbox” that uses your Facebook contacts list to automatically build whitelists for imperative messages. But the problem is that, there’s no IMAP support to launch, so you can’t plug in your favorite mail client.
The service is assumed to be rolled out over the next few months and we do hope that Facebook will soon have a name for this “new messaging system”.
